Painted Zodiac is operated by PaintedApp, LLC, 1327 SE Tacoma St #394, Portland, OR 97202. When these terms say "we", they mean PaintedApp, LLC. Write support@painted.app about anything here.

Painted Zodiac sells finished fine art of the twelve signs. The new art is made with AI image models, directed by us, and grounded in the historical star atlases each piece cites. The Archive sells public-domain plates printed as the engraver left them; those are scans of historical works, not AI output. Commissioned pieces are rendered by an AI image model from the text you enter, and you see the finished piece before you pay for a print of it.

Prints, canvases and frames are made to order by our print partners and shipped to the address you give at checkout. Digital purchases deliver a high-resolution file by download link, live for 30 days.

A purchase buys you the physical piece, or the file, for personal, non-commercial use: hang it, gift it, print a digital file for your own walls. It does not transfer copyright, and it does not license commercial use: no reselling prints or files, no merchandise, no stock libraries. Want a commercial arrangement? We keep whatever rights the law gives us in the new art and in the house's designs. A render you commission is licensed to you on the same personal-use terms. The law on copyright in AI-assisted images is unsettled and differs by country, so we make no promise that a render can be registered or enforced as a copyright by anyone.

Archive plates are public-domain works; we claim nothing over the underlying historical images. Three are Wellcome Collection photographs licensed CC BY 4.0, credited on their own pages with a link to the licence record.

Text you enter must be lawful and yours to use. The commission room works from text alone: it never asks for a photograph, and it is not for depicting real people. Do not ask it for a celebrity or any real, identifiable person, for a trademark, logo or brand character, or for anything hateful, sexual, violent or infringing. We screen every prompt and refuse renders that break these rules, and we may decline to print any render, refunding anything paid for it.

Each visitor gets free passes; after that, passes are sold in packs. A pass that produces no painting because of a fault on our side is given back automatically. Passes have no cash value and are not transferable.

The shop and accounts are for adults. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must place the order and agree to these terms.

Prices are shown at checkout and charged by Stripe. Production starts promptly after payment — that is what makes made-to-order art fast, and what makes cancellation a narrow window.

Every piece is made to order for you, so change-of-mind returns are not accepted. A damaged, misprinted or wrong piece is replaced or refunded, and a digital file that never arrives is refunded in full. The refund policy has the details and time limits. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer.

We describe every piece accurately, but screens and paper differ: small colour variance between the image on your screen and the ink on your wall is the nature of printing, not a defect. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any order is limited to replacing it or refunding what you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

When these terms change, the date at the top changes and the line under it says what changed. The terms in force when you placed an order are the ones that apply to it.
